About us
The Abrielle Neff Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that focuses on children and
their needs through different programs. The Foundation functions on a volunteer basis. Every tax
deductible dollar or donation we receive is used for one of the programs.
The largest program, Abby’s Hugs, works with St. Francis Hospital to hand out stuffed animals for
comfort to children in the emergency room, awaiting outpatient surgeries, and to admitted
children. Each stuffed animal is packaged in its own individual Ziploc bag to remain germ-free and
comes with a hand decorated card containing a poem and a description of how the program started.
Along with the animal, children admitted or awaiting surgery also receive a coloring or activity
book and crayons, markers or colored pencils to help pass the time. Children’s DVDs, games, and
slippers have also been donated to the hospital for use by the patients during their stay. This
program also donates reading books, coloring books and crayons to the Nodaway County Health
Department for use by patients in their office. Stuffed animals are also provided for children on
the Angel Trees at Christmas time through Abby’s Hugs.
Abby’s Gift works to educate the public on organ donation through pamphlets that discuss the
different aspects of donation.
Abby’s Gardens will begin this spring after it was discovered that there was a need for outdoor
classroom improvements at many schools around the area. This program will help schools update and
expand their current outdoor classrooms or create new spaces for those without.
The Foundation has also provided a playhouse and sidewalk at Eugene Field Elementary School along
with books for the preschool.
